My Manifesto - 101 in 1001
I got the idea for this blog from Joana. I have kept a few things from her list, and added some of my own.
The goal is to achieve these 101 things in 1001 days, beginning January 30th, 2009.
We'll see how this goes...
1. Go walking just because its raining
2. Taste a typical food of a country I’ve never tried before 4/9/09
3. Edit an article in Wikipedia 2/5/09
4. Make a blog and keep it updated
5. Go on a helicopter
6. Not watch TV at all for a week
7. Finish my lyrics project
8. Make a list with my 101 favorite songs
9. Climb a mountain
10. Visit 3 museums I’ve never visited before
11. Read His Dark Materials Trilogy
12. Read The Chronicles of Narnia
13. Take one photo every day
14. Do a 1000 piece puzzle
15. Convince someone to make their own list of “101 things to do in 1001 days”
16. For 3 days eat only food I’ve never eaten before
17. Read a book written in Spanish
18. Read a book written in Finnish
19. Pick one day, buy the newspaper that day, and read it from the beginning to the end
20. See 101 movies from the 250 Best Movies List of IMDB (24/101)
21. Send a letter to someone who I don’t know 12/6/09
22. Cook for someone 2/14/09
23. Learn a new language
24. Care for a plant without killing it for at least a year
25. Send at least 101 postcards with Postcrossing
26. Get together with a friend that I haven’t talked to for years
27. Taste something that I think I’ll hate 4/20/09
28. Go out for a big weekend and do a road trip (but without previous destination)
29. Save $1 for each of the 1001 days
30. Decide what to do in the end of the 1001 days with $1001
31. Go to the theatre
32. Make my own recipes book
33. Milk a cow
34. Listen to 101 albums of the list of the “1000 albums that you should hear before you die” (23/101)
35. Get rid of 101 things that I don’t need
36. Write a letter of gratitude to some establishment where I had been really well attended
37. Read 15 books that are considered “Classic” (9/15)
38. Read 15 books that are considered “Best Sellers” (9/15)
39. See all the Disney Classics
40. Go REAL camping for 3 days
41. Go skinny dipping at midnight under a full moon
42. Tell someone the story of your life, sparing no details
43. Sleep under the stars
44. Learn to drive stick confidently
45. Go a whole day without talking at all
46. Grow and eat a vegetable
47. See the northern lights
48. Bike 50 miles in 1 day
49. Learn how to play guitar
50. Spend time with the older generation and learn about their lives 2/2/09
51. Go surfing
52. Take a hot air balloon ride
53. Plan meals, and eat extremely healthy for 1 week
54. Have a picnic at midnight
55. Spend 1 day with my cell phone switched off
56. Make a loaf of bread from scratch 2/8/09
57. Get something published
58. Learn to Whistle
59. Mow the lawn with a push lawnmower
60. Get 9 hours of sleep a night for a week.
61. Go a week without pressing the snooze button once
62. Make a prank call without laughing
63. Smile at strangers walking down the street instead of avoiding eye contact ****
64. Go somewhere where no one can hear and scream at the top of my lungs
65. Spend an entire night just enjoying the company of a friend, and get breakfast at 5AM before calling it a night and going to bed
66. Learn how to type without looking at the keyboard
67. Hold the door open for people*
68. Go for a run, and run more than 2 miles without stopping
69. Read the book Rebecca
70. Read Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
71. Study abroad in a Spanish speaking country
72. Get a picture displayed in a gallery
73. See a license plate from every state (starting now) (49/50)
74. See every episode of at least 5 TV shows (3/5)
75. Go a day without using any lights
76. Plan out every hour of a day, and stick it out
77. For 1 day, answer “yes” to any reasonable request
78. Say nothing all day except in response to questions
79. Keep a person talking about himself or herself without allowing him to become conscious of it. Turn back any courteous reciprocal questions in a way that your auditor doesn't feel rebuffed.
80. Give every acquaintance I meet for one day a fake name.
81. Spend an entire day in the company of one other person.
82. Jump on a pogo stick for an hour
83. See something that really takes my breath away
84. Write 101 real letters (101/101)
85. Try egg nog 11/30/09
86. Sleep sitting up
87. Walk with no destination
88. Go to a huge empty field, close my eyes, and just run
89. Mail a secret to Postsecret.com 12/7/09
90. Go to a coffee shop and order the most expensive drink on the menu
91. Try 11 different fruits or veggies from the produce department that I’ve never tried before (4/11)
92. Go an entire day without saying no or not
93. Visit Canada
94. Secretly do something really wonderful for someone anonymously 2/09
95. Give a bit of change to anyone who asks or plays music on the street ****
96. Get full of mud and not care
97. Try 101 different types of tea (11/101)
98. Don’t save the nice things for later. Use them and enjoy them now ***
99. Find at least one thing that makes each day worth living
100. Smile for no reason, and LIVE life
101. Celebrate in a crazy way the accomplishment of these 100 things
